is pleased to announce a lecture by
Mrs. Zaneta Djukic Perisic
of the Yugoslav Embassy
on
Ivo Andric : between East and West

In her lecture about creative work of Ivo Andric, Mrs. Zaneta Djukic-Perisic will pay special attention to the analysis of cultural and historical circumstances which influenced the authors point of view on the world and literature. The fact that Andric spiritually matured during the time of great historical turns of events and intellectual development of Europe will be directly linked to his written works. The presentation will be organised chronologically to enable the audience to get a clearer insight into the evolutionary process underlying Andrics creative work.

After depicting the authors spiritual profile, creative ideas and influences, as well as main characteristics of his creative philosophy, Mrs. Zaneta Djukic-Perisic will base her analysis of the authors global symbols on his selected novels and chronicles: The Bridge on the Drina and The days of the Consuls. Moreover, this analysis will also provide the background for a short theoretical evaluation of the relations between facts and fiction, history and legend in Andrics prose, as well as of the structure of his novels.
