From the pen of award-winning writer John Knowles comes an absurd comic drama encompassing war, love, betrayal, and a man with a Hitler moustache. Written in response to the image of a cafe’ owner who decided to start wearing a Hitler style moustache shortly after The Yugoslav Wars, the play explores life lived in a state of constant flux, revolution and war.
A play which wreaks havoc with theatrical conventions and which holds a glaring light onto the absurdities of war, the betrayal of the people by politicians and the whole bag of worms that life lived in ‘interesting times’ turns out to be.

Part I of this absurdist comedy sees the owner of a local bar start wearing a Hitler moustache. The entrance of a young revolutionary soldier provides a catalyst for a series of interactions about life, death, loyalty and sacrifice.
Part II picks up the story five years later, in the age of the Oligarchs, where PR and control of the media are on the agenda.

Hitleria Pizzeria’ appeals to anyone who has seen their lives turned upside down and witnessed at first hand the absurdity of revolution and war.

‘The writing is witty, the characters sharply drawn, the performances assured.’ Kent Barker Hastings Independent Press
‘Like Last of the Summer Wine set in Sarajevo’
