Introduction to the Azbukum Serbian Language Course in the UK

On 11th September 2019, the Round Table has the pleasure of hosting an introduction to the Azbukum Serbian Language Course at GCSE Foundation and Higher Level and A level, for pupils from 12 to 18 years of age. The course will be taught over one academic year from 21st September 2019 at the Bishop Nikolaj Community Centre for 3 hours on Saturdays during term time.The course has been designed by the Azbukum Centre (www.azbukum.edu.rs), an organisation based in Novi Sad and Belgrade which has been teaching Serbian as a foreign language to adults and young people since 1995. Azbukum courses were accredited by the Serbian Ministry of Education in 2017 and correspond to the European Common Framework of Reference for Languages (ECFRL), so their qualifications are recognised not only in Serbia but in Europe and beyond. On behalf of the Management Committee it is my pleasure to invite you to the Annual General Meeting of the Serbian Council of Great Britain. The meeting will take place at the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia, 28 Belgrave Square, Belgravia, London SW1X 8QB on Tuesday 12th February 2019.
The Annual General Meeting will begin at6pm and the guest speakers at the event will be Nataša Milićević – Dobrominov, Director Azbukum Centre and Biljana Novković-Adžaip, Azbukum Centre who will talk about the work of the Azbukum Centre in Serbia, which has taught Serbian as a foreign language since 1995 and whose courses have been accredited by the Serbian government and are recognised in Europe and beyond. Through a partnership with the Round Table it is hoped that their course at GCSE level will be taught in Britain from the autumn of 2019 and students will receive a recognised qualification. Parents of potential students are encouraged to attend.

Round Table and the Round Table’s Working Group on the Serbian Language are inviting you to the Workshop – Serbian Language in the Diaspora.
The purpose of the workshop is to promote the teaching and learning of the Serbian language in Serbian diaspora communities and to take forward one of the top priorities of the Round Table and the Round Table’s Working Group on the Serbian Language , to obtain a recognised qualification in the Serbian language at GCSE level.
The workshop will be held in London, at the Kensington Aldridge Academy, I Silchester Road, London W10 6 EX is open to anyone with an interest in the area – teachers, managers of Serbian schools, representatives of organisations with an interest in the area. Representatives from Serbian Diaspora communities in Europe active in this area will also be invited to attend.
